One Night with a Cowboy by Elizabeth Otto
This is your classic contemporary cowboy romance, and I can see from other reviews that people who like this trope will like this one.
I’m not much of a cowboy person, but the massive popularity of the theme means half the books that come my way seem to be about them. I really don’t enjoy the theme of the city girl who goes to the country to find a ‘real man’. I like my men a little more – um – socially enlightened!
However, the writing in this book is excellent and carries you through a storyline that has been done plenty of times before. There’s only so much that can be done with the theme, so the characters have to make up for it – and I think Elizabeth Otto managed to do that. I liked both lead characters and I also liked that there was a little more depth to the plot towards the end.
I guess the publisher knew what they were doing by packaging the book with this cover, blurb and title. It’s one for the cowboy fans and is a nice, easy read for a weekend.
